Johannes Girardoni received the 2019 Francis J. Greenburger Award at The New Museum, NYC. The award honors established artists whom the art world knows to be of extraordinary merit but who have not been fully recognized by the public.

Presented by Alice Aycock, Charlotta Kotik, Lili Chopra, Marianne Boesky, and Anders Schroeder, the Award was also given to artists Ralph Lemon, John Newman, Mierle Laderman Ukeles, and Jennifer Bartlett. Past award recipients include Martin Puryear, Lee Bontecou, George Condo, and Bruce Conner, among others.
