Lumasonic Passage – Blue/Green is an interactive light-and-sound installation connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Los Angeles International Airport. Participants move through a continually shifting sonic and visual landscape — one that is shaped, in real time, by their own presence.
A video sensor captures movement and light, translating this data into sound in real time via Spectrosonic Refrequencing (SSR) — a software program developed by the artists — making light audible. Video monitors display the light and motion information as custom algorithms convert visual data into auditory frequencies.
The work challenges traditional subject-object relationships by generating reciprocity between participant and environment. Combining physical material with digital sensory systems, the artists’ orchestration of light, matter, and data activates the boundaries between biological and computational phenomena — provoking self-reflection and a heightened awareness of one’s own perception. Lumasonic Passage – Blue/Green, in its totality, exists through the experience of it.
