Resonant Disks are stand-alone, unique sculptures, or form components of interactive installations composed of multiple monochromatic resin disks, each in one of the twelve fundamental colors of the visible spectrum. The sculptures express pixelated architecture in physical space, blurring the line between virtual and material content. The installation’s digital component is Resonant Lens, an app that sonifies the color of each disk in real-time. Resonant Lens acts as an extension of the five senses, augments reality, and allows viewers to hear what they see. This group of works explores how our perception responds to a digital element that is simultaneously expressed as both low and high resolution in physical space.
The Resonant Disk edition is composed of Girardoni’s twelve fundamental spectral colors: Red, Red Orange, Orange, Yellow Orange, Yellow, Yellow Green, Green, Blue Green, Blue, Blue Violet, Violet, and Red Violet. Edition of 3, plus AP.
